Inexpensive Halloween Decorations to Buy or DIY

October 4, 2020

Oh Halloween, it's definitely not what we are used to but I'm determined not to let COVID ruin my holiday spirit! How are you decorating/celebrating this year? My go to for inspiration is usually Pinterest, (You can check out our Halloween decoration board here.) but I've been seeing a lot of fun ideas on Instagram, Etsy and Amazon as well! So whether you have time on your hands or prefer to to just get it done, here are some Halloween decoration ideas that will help put the spook in the season!

1) I promise... this is going to be the only expensive item on my list! I understand my title and I assure you it's not click bait but I had to include this. For anyone that wants to know because I didn't know Home Depot had so many amazing inflatables! We're talking a smoke breathing dragon, Ghost Buster vehicle and this adorable Coco one! At $129 it's no where near inexpensive but like I said, I had to include it! Check it out on Home Depot's site and more here.

2) Now that we got thru that, a slow clap for amazon for allowing me not to have to run out the door every time I forget something at the store. Honestly, you cannot beat this decor deal at $13.99! Good reviews, large banners, place a pumpkin on the side and you're good to go.    Get it here.

3) Toilet paper spooky eyes. Easy peasy, great for older kids and fun decor to tape on your windows. Get glow sticks from Michaels, Target or Amazon

4) If you've followed me for any amount of time, you know I love my painted rocks. They're so fun to decorate, hide, find and giveaway. This website has great tips, tricks and inspiration for your budding rock painting artist. Rockpaintingguide.com

5) Speaking of artists, are coloring pages the current thing at home? Education.com has huge resource library of free Halloween themed coloring pages, activity pages, brain busters and so so much more! Sort by Holiday or grade. Maybe you'll get that 5 minutes of quiet time you were hoping for!

6) Are you a crafty queen? I'm always searching for new fun ways to keep kids entertained. This craft is beautiful and easy! Coffee filters, crayolas, closepins, a lil black acrylic paint. (Although I'm sure a marker would work in a pinch.) See the complete instructions at woojr.com

6) Trash bag spider webs? This is really good. I'm always amazed by peoples ability to see one thing and utilize it for something entirely different! See the full directions here.

7) Bleeding candles. I prefer the flameless candles for this project but the ones that use real wax. (Always use caution with dripping wax.) Protect your surface, grab a red crayon, melt away allowing the sides to drip on the candle. I think a Disney inspired poisoned apple pumpkin would go great with this...

8) A lace mantle cover is just spooky enough to set the mood. Put over your fireplace, doorway, dining table. Grab it here.

9) Honestly sometimes it's the little things. I love this light switch so much that I have no problem using it year round! Frankenstein Light Switch on Etsy

10) Change your home into the Hogwarts Great Hall! I've done this with fishing wire, push pins, and flameless taper candles and it's still one of my favorite things!
